Dear Pace East Parent/Guardian: Your child was recently given a form for you to fill out and return that asks for your child's race and ethnicity. The collection of this information is mandated by the federal government, which has revised the criteria of these data. A letter of explanation was included with the form but more information can be found on the PWCS Web site at: http:/www.pwcs.edu/news2/announcements/351-federalethnicityreporting.html Please complete parts A and B of the form, sign and date it at the bottom, and return it to our homeroom class by Monday, December 14. As called for in the new federal requirements, if the forms are not completed by parents/guardians, then a staff member will observe adn select racial and ethnic categories on the student's behalf. These data are being collected for students in grades 8-11 now in advance of the scheduling for high school students for next school year, which begins in 2010.
